The township of Latrobe dates back to 1820 and was a bustling main port for the North West of Tasmania. Today, the history is still there, with 70 heritage listed buildings within the town. Latrobe is also known as the Platypus Capital of Tasmania, with various viewing areas and a platypus interpretation centre to learn more about this friendly mammal.

There is also trout fishing, close proximity to the Mersey Hospital, the Mersey River, Reliquaire (a lovely quirky store), Anvers Chocolate Factory, Ashgrove Cheese, Warrawee Forest Reserve, Vineyards and lots more.

We are also the doorway to Cradle Mountain, and other tourist spots within the North West.
